Today, I told a customer the bread he wanted has been discontinued. He replied with, "Are you serious? What is your name? I'm going up front to complain about you." I still don't understand how that's specifically my fault. FML

Because you've been stalking the customer and got the job there specifically to get their favorite bread discontinued you evil criminal master mind you*sarcasm font*

In the customers eyes, you're always the one at fault(You control everything obviously). You just gotta ignore them honestly, hopefully the complaint wont be taken seriously. I've met dozens of these intelligent human beings myself.

Hope whoever this nutjob complained to (like a manager) laughed at them until they left.

I hate it when something gets discontinued and customers are all "I've bought it here before!!! Go check at the back!!" Like no, I won't be checking out back for something we don't sell. Feeling your pain, OP!

Let him complain man... Let your manager have a good laugh too.

Op obviously it's your job to see to it that every client gets exactly what he wants, no matter what it is. If you aren't able to provide every random customer with every random wish they have, you are not doing your job correctly! I hope the sarcasm was obvious & seriously **** that person.

The more I read this FML, the more annoyed I become. Shall I strangle him for you? Please?

I feel your pain OP. I used to work in a grocery store bakery and people were savage. One of my favourites was the guy who screamed, "NO YOU'RE WRONG! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!" When I told him our square cinnamon buns were the same thing as our round ones, just different shapes. I worked there for four years and I still get flashbacks. *shudders*

Gotta to love retail. Everything is your fault. Price is wrong, cashiers fault.

I once had a customer report me to the head office for explaining to him that a particular book was no longer on the front table because it had been out for over 2 weeks. My general manager wrote me up.

Don't tell them your name. That's what I use to do when I worked in a grocery store. I would ask them their name. It would piss them off. Haha!

Don't most places require a nam Tag of some sort? Also asking them for their name.. Why? Shouldn't encourage escalation imo

Obviously you never worked in retail. Half the customers can't read. And half the managers don't care what goes on.

Also might I add op stated that the customer asked for their name. Validating my point.
