You don't have to be fast and skinny to be on the track team!!! There are events that you can do like shot put, javelin throw, long jump, pole-vault, and the high jump just to name a few... They don't require speed.
I haven't seen a fat polevaulter in all of my years involved in track and field.
Oh dear God, fat people should NOT do the pole vault! Those poles can snap. They are also lousy jumpers, although you make a valid point about the throws. Successful throwers tend to be enormous. In any case, if the OP is joining the team as a weight loss program, he or she is better off hitting the gym. Sports teams are not for weight reduction or getting into shape and it is probable that the other kids going out for the team already have experience or at a minimum are actually athletic. The OP will end up getting cut and the mom will laugh her ass off.
You profile pic is my fav so far
Why is everyone so hard on people who have trouble with their weight? If you're fat, you deserve it. But if you are fat, and you want to do something about it, like, I don't know, join the track team, there's something wrong with you? I don't get it.
What is the point you are trying to make??
No 43's point was that it wasn't fair of the mom to pick on the OP for being overweight if the OP was joining the track team as a weight loss measure.
Haha you're fat
Haha you're a bitch
My mother said I looked pregnant, so I understand you.
Run like Fat Albert!
Good for you.
