That's a pretty heartless thing to say, but don't let her discourage you. Join track, have some fun, and you'll probably feel great about yourself for doing it.

What a horrible mom! I can't even imagine saying something like that to your own child. I feel bad for you growing up in a household having a parent like that. She should be positive and supportive.
