Today, I told my mom that I wanted professional head-shots done for Christmas. When asked why, I said "I want to submit them to a modeling agency." My mom exchanged looks with my sister before laughing so hard that she wet herself. FML

Today, I told my parents I wanted to try modelling. I decided that since I have such a low self-esteem, that it might benefit me, and make me feel better about myself and how I look. The first thing out of my dad's mouth was, "What? Why? You're ugly." Thanks dad. FML

Today, I went to the mall with two friends. A modelling scout approached us and asked both of my friends if they were interested in modelling. When the scout finally noticed me, she asked if I was their mom. We're all the same age. FML

Today, after spending a lot of money on photo shoots to build up my portfolio, I finally got an offer from a modelling agency. I ran outside to tell my parents, only for my brother to hurl an iced snowball straight into my face. I now have a huge gash over my cheek and nose. FML

Today, I told my mom that I want to try out for a singing competition on TV, so I might be able to kick off my musical career. She convinced me to sing a song for her, so I did. Mid-way through, she lost it, burst into laughter, and told me to stay in school. FML

Most working models aren't classic beauties so I doubt the problem is that you're unattractive. Do you meet the necessary requirements for being a model? It takes more than you may think. Your mum probably didn't mean to be cruel. The truth is, if you can't handle criticism from your own family, you will not make it in the modeling industry. If it means enough to you, get your portfolio together on your own.

You can't always control your reaction. A friend once told me she wanted to be a comedian; it was the funniest thing she ever said. I laughed until tears ran down my face. She eventually joined in then we moved on and talked about her actual talents.

if it's a legit modeling agency and they're actually interested in you, then you don't need head shots. they'll even do them for you most of the time if they think you have potential. get a professional opinion before you waste your money. even if you are attractive, a lot of really pretty girls aren't model material.

Exactly! Sure models are like that but damn, nobody likes a stuck up bitch. I had a friend like that. She thought EVERYONE praised the ground she walked on. Well we got in to a huge fight and everyone was telling me how happy they were that I finally told her off because nobody could stand her!
