Today, I told my new boss to wish his daughter a happy birthday on my behalf, as I overheard him saying it was today. Turns out she committed suicide three years ago. FML

Today, I went into work and noticed one of my fellow colleagues had a large bunch of flowers on her desk. As soon as I saw her, I immediately said, "Happy Birthday!" Everyone went quiet. It wasn't her birthday; her father had died. FML

Today, on the first occasion I've seen my boss since her brief leave, I brought up how I got to hear all our customers' heartwarming plans for their moms on Mother's Day. Her mother just died. That's why she was on leave. FML

Today, I found out my boss wrote me up because he heard me crying on the phone, and that it was unprofessional. I was talking to my sister, who was telling that me my father had died. Three weeks ago, he was crying about his dog breaking his leg. FML

Today, I was texting a friend of mine. She mentioned it was her dad's birthday. I typed, "Tell him 'Happy Birthday' from me!" and as I pressed send, I remembered her dad was dead. FML

Today, I was accidentally rude to a customer and she told me to kill myself. My boss came over, told me that she agreed wholeheartedly with the customer, and then said, "I have no idea where you got this delusion that anyone would be sad if you died." FML

Today, my boss called me into his office. Expecting a long overdue promotion, I hurried in. Instead, he told me he thought I would be perfect to take his son on a pity date, because he's a suicide risk due to his depression. FML

Today, my boss called me to his office, and played back a recording of me telling a co-worker that if I still worked there in a year, I would hang myself. He then bitched me out for unprofessional conduct. The taped conversation took place over a year ago, with my recently ex-boyfriend. FML

There is a huge difference between correcting somebody in an assholish way(Assholish shouldnt be used im aware) and honestly not understanding what the **** someone is trying to say. when i read this my brain started to hurt. Nuff said.

#86 There's a lot of FMLs on this site that sure, might not be considered "that bad" because they don't involve death, cancer, third world poverty, etc etc. But we can't go around saying that so and so's FML isn't worthy enough. It's all relative, after all. I don't think the OP was trying to make a bigger deal out of his mistake than the girl's death. I mean, obviously the girl's family members are the one's who suffered, not him. But that wasn't the point of this FML, he made this into an FML because he really felt bad about the situation.

Yeah it's more the boss's FML, however a lot of people post on here when they have accidentally been insensitive to someone else's loss. They're not saying they think they have it worse, they're just saying they feel bad and are kicking themselves.
