Today, I told my parents I wanted them to meet my new partner. My mom went into a rant about how she had known I was gay for a while and asked how I was going to tell my husband. I am straight, madly in love with my husband, and was referring to my business partner. FML

Okay, (it's OP) I need to make a couple of clarifications. I didn't include this part because there wasn't enough room in the FML submit thing, but after I told my mom I was referring to my business partner, she told me that she thinks I'm a lesbian not because of her fantastic maternal intuition, but because she thinks my husband is too much of an "ass bitch" for me to actually love him, and because I'm athletic. I wanted her to meet my business partner because my parents are involved in my business

lol, it's funny, but just explain to your mother what you meant.

And yet another FML where you need to learn to use more words. When I read the first sentence I figured you were gay too.

Are you sure you're not gay though? Yes you could love your husband but that doesn't mean you're not gay. Your parents know you pretty well, so maybe they've figured it out before you even have. Do some experimentation, it's not a crime.

Just because someone is in a commited hetrosexual relationship doesn't mean that they aren't secretly gay. I have known of a few couples who have broken up because one of them was gay. I don't know all of the details, so I don't know if they just fell for someone of the same sex or they knew deep down they were gay and had hoped that their feelings would change..... Things are getting better, but I bet it is still very hard being gay with the way society can be. Sorry for the rant.....anyway, to the OP, you should have specified business partner.

This probably sounds stupid... But What does OP mean?

@22: That is the point. It is written just like she said it so you're supposed to assume that she's gay before she expains it. @23: Experimenting to see if she's gay may not be a crime, but I bet that her husband wouldn't like it. And I disagree with your statement "Your parents know you pretty well". If she's married, I'm guessing she has her own house and has lived away from them for a while. She's had plenty of time to change. I'm also guessing that she's perfectly happy and straight. OP: Though this would be an awful situation to be in, you straightened it all out be specifying "business partner" after your mom's lecture and all you were left with was awkward memories.

#23, while "experimentation" (whether with the same sex or the opposite) is not a "crime" in most states, it's definitely a severe violation of marriage vows. Personally, I don't think that's okay, no matter what the scenario is.

Perhaps your mother has had her own share of experiences for flying off the handle so quickly.
