YDI for making a threat you couldn’t deliver on, but also for giving in, because now you’ve given him a way to get money out of you anytime he feels like it.
...the first scenario, so he could conclude you were lying. The first thing you’d expect him to do after you told him would be to check the internet, realising immediately that it wasn’t true. It seems like a no brainer. Am i missing something? Did I misunderstand what happened? Also, I get being (secretly) proud of it, but don’t give him money. Don’t reward him for the shit.
So you’re a complete pushover?
If you were able to change the password to something he didn't know then how did he go in and change the password to something you didn't know? That doesn't even make sense.

And it never occurred to simply hard-reset the router and reconfigure the wifi because...?
If my kid tried that with me, a quick call to the cable company cutting off the internet would occur, and also a deactivation of the cell phone as well.
