Uber Everywhere.
They owe you a rental car.
Never have I seen a spark from trying to start a car causing a fire. I've never even seen a battery spark unless some piece of metal has touched the positive and negative. My only thought is that there was a jump pack or jumper cables connected and that they tried using starting fluid and the battery was near the intake. Someone sprayed and wiggled a cable (trying to get a better connection and caused a spark) igniting the starting fluid. Unless there was a rotted gas line, bad fuel injector, or bad fuel rail. Regardless, I'd never go back and would take some action against them.

$10 says that they put a jump box on your frozen and dead battery to start your car and move it in from the lot to the work bay inside. Usually the car won't start but I have seen sparks fly if the clamps either touch each other or, in this case, the electricity from the jump box finds an easier path to ground than through your wasted battery.
