Today, I tried to explain to my 23-year-old boyfriend the difference between "your" and "you're". I do this every other day, but it's like his head is permanently stuck in the first grade. FML

OP here. I love my boyfriend, but you wouldn't BELIEVE how lazy and unmotivated he is sometimes. I think his attitude of not giving a **** goes back to how he's always been fed with a silver spoon and been given EVERYTHING in life. He feels as if he doesn't need to do anything, and that it's all up to everyone else. That goes for getting a job and earning money to pay the bills as well as stupid stuff like this. His attitude is "if they can figure it out, why should I care?" That doesn't make him a bad person, but it's hugely insensitive. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the people here talking crap about me are exactly the same as he is. That "your" vs "you're" thing bugs the hell out of me anyway and it's not like committing the difference to memory is a hard thing. Long rant done, thanks. Edit: I didn't mean to reply to this comment. :S

That doesn't bother me nearly as much as people who confuse then/than. Not sure why, but I hate that.

Instead of wasting time correcting your boyfriend, you should be asking yourself why you're dating someone so stupid. (See what I did there?)

I had to the same thing with me ex.

tl;dr (I don't give a shit) Sorry but rants like that really eliminate my interest in the subject so shut up.

Based on what you just told us, I can't help but assume that your boyfriend's a spoiled douchebag. I admire your patience and I hope for your sake that he has some redeeming qualities.

sounds like one helluva rich douchebag imo.

good job you've just made your boyfriend sound even worse

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but OP, you really shouldn't be with a man like that. My sister recently married a man just like your boyfriend, he had everything given to him as well, and he is extremely selfish. Her marriage isn't a happy one because he has made himself priority over his own children (one of which is from an ex-girlfriend of his) and everyone else. This man is so selfish, that even though he named his first son, and the dog, he wouldn't even allow my sister to name my little 3 month old nephew because they were having a boy, and he wanted to name it if it was a boy, despite it being her first child. He's now decided that he's done having children. My sister will never get the daughter she wanted and now has to spend her life with a man who blows through her money as quickly as she earns it. If he doesn't change his ways, I see a divorce coming very soon in my sister's future, and they've only been married a year.

*your Oh, the savory, delicious irony.

I did it on purpose, trust me, lol i just did it for the fun of it as a joke of irony. Goddamn, some of you people on here take things way too seriously, just saying.

Perhaps if it wasn't just the one intentional misspell, more would catch on to it.

169, There was no indicator that this was sarcasm and you're repeating the same joke thats been said 100 times already. Much like the original idiot, you're responsible for communicating your own point. Don't go blaming others because you fail to communicate.

245 - you have a slight point in indicating that there was not enough sufficient information as in I being sarcastic. However, at the same time, I would assume that people would actually be smart enough to decipher my comment as in terms that I was just joking or else I wouldn't have commented. Again, as I stated before, you do have a point there was not enough info to show that I was joking. And by the way, I was never pointing fingers on anybody either. Just a comment in general that people should chill out a bit on this site instead of getting all serious.

I used to do that with my friend, though in part just to annoy him but it was part honest annoyance as well, I gave up eventually. It's just not worth it, if they haven't figured it out by now they're not going to.

Sounds like to me that "Your screwed..." wait hold up...or is it "You're screwed..."? Dang.... Ask your boyfriend which is right....

Same (mine's 21, whatever). He claims to know the difference (I sure as hell hope he does, he's about to graduate from the most competitive undergraduate college in the nation), but in texts he ALWAYS uses "your." I've just given up at this point...

I do the same ! Except mine's 26 ! I correct his texts all the time

And don't be surprised if he dumps you! That is just rude!
