Today, I visited my family. Over the course of 2 hours, my brother punched me, and my mom slapped me across the face after drinking way too much wine. When I started gathering my things to leave, my mom started crying about how I don't visit enough. FML

I would have left after the first punch, nobody deserve to be treated like that and alcohol is not an excuse.

If my brother ever punched me, I would ******* push him down a flight of stairs. I wouldn't be returning if I were you. Skype them every now and then and call it even.

This should have said "as I was walking my ass out the door" instead of "when I started gathering my things". You DEFF don't deserve to be treated that way by anyone, especially family!

Are you doing something which would bring about a change, or do you feel powerless to affect their behaviour? Because if it's the latter it's unreasonable to have hope for a change. Then you should evaluate how the relationship affects your life - if it's just an annoyance, fine put up with it. However if it's a toxic relationship, if it takes your strength and self-confidence away - then please get out and break off the contact.

The slap was for drinking too much wine. Maybe the punch was for not drinking enough?

Why do male siblings think its ok to physically assault their sister? Didn't they ever learn they shouldn't hit girls? Do they move onto abusing their girlfriends and wives too, since they have no qualms about hitting a girl?

For me it is the other way around, my sister physically abuses me. It has dropped off in the last few years. But it isn't always boy abuses girl.
