Today, I visited my family. Over the course of 2 hours, my brother punched me, and my mom slapped me across the face after drinking way too much wine. When I started gathering my things to leave, my mom started crying about how I don't visit enough. FML

I would have left after the first punch, nobody deserve to be treated like that and alcohol is not an excuse.

Sounds like a typical family gathering then. I mean, at least for me. Gotta stop the mario party+Monopoly marathons.

Ya op why don't you visit enough!? (Sarcasm) I wouldn't visit them either

People don't know what they have until they lose it. Abuse it, and lose it. Simple

maybe your family should think about shock therapy..... just saying

Next time OP visits she should tell her family she's pregnant. They'll be too shocked to hit her. Shock therapy = success.

You should back into the gas meter really hard, flick your cigarette out the window, and drive off flipping the bird out the window !!!

Insanity wolf?! What are you doing here?!

I'd say **** that I'm outta here. If my brother punched me and my mom slapped me, I'd leave immediately. You don't need an explanation

This. In fact, if a family member of mine punched me, I'd probably call the police. I've always made it very clear to my family that although I love them, if any of them were to raise a hand to me, I'll happily call the authorities. Some people might see that as an overreaction, but assault shouldn't be a normal thing amongst families.

Wait that's not how you play Family Feud?

You ought to learn some self-defense skills and put up a fight. I hear there's a pimp out there giving slap lessons. Try to learn the bitch-slap, too. For your brother: knee to the nuts. You'll thank me later.

I would've left way earlier because... AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO DAT!

That's horrible! You need to press charges on your brother.

I think that might be taking it a little far...by a little I mean a lot.

How is that taking it too far? Her brother clearly has no self-control if he's going to punch his SISTER. She has every right to press charges.

Because we do not know more information. There is also the fact that if you press charges then you cannot undo that. You are forever damaging your relationship with your family. You can't just undo that and make good on it. That's why.

Why should the OP care about ruining her relationship with her family? Her brother thinks it's ok to punch his own sister. I'd say he's the one who should be a little more considerate of his family and ruining his closest relationships. This is, of course, assuming the punch was worth calling the police over. I'm sure the OP can tell the difference between a jokey punch and one that was intended to harm. But still, I think it's pretty sad that there are people out there who won't press charges on those who abuse them because they're too scared to ruin the relationship or upset family members.

54- Two people used physical force against another person: OP. What more information do you need?? Doing something like that - let alone unprovoked - is nothing short of domestic abuse, battery, and/or assault, regardless of who you're related to. You can't choose family, but you can choose how you associate with them, if you choose to do so at all. OP obviously doesn't for just this reason.

What the heck?? Wow. A man should never hit a woman regardless if he's your brother or not. As far as your mother, it's none of her concern if you drink or not.

#36 Oh and that makes you feel like such a special person huh? Stop being a grammar Nazi and get a life.

what if someone tried hitting you????? since you're a man OR a woman lol
