Alright, I'll admit defeat. The way I pictured it was her at his desk, doing the set up with him. It didn't occur to me that perhaps she was just shipping out emails. Easier said than done, especially if OP could potentially access work email from home. One has to be the, oh I don't know, "System Admin", to ultimately prove it wasn't them.

Emails can be sent with a time delay.

When I was in elementary school, my mother taught me to always make friends with the lunch ladies, secretaries, custodians, and bus drivers - they can make your life infinitely easier. When I got into the working world, she amended the list to waitstaff, secretaries, IT, custodians, and human resources. Best advice I've ever received.
