Today, I walked out of my college dorm to see that the intelligent person who locked their bike next to mine decided as an added security they would lock their bike to the rack, and to my bike. FML

Today, I saw a bike locked to a short bollard, making it very easy to steal. Being as nice as I am, I stayed, hoping the owner would come soon and no one else would take it. Then the guy who bullied me in highschool showed up, asked me what I was doing, laughed at me, took the bike, and left. FML

Today, I decided to bike to work. I normally forget the key to my lock, so I leave it out back and hope that nobody takes it, and nobody does. I finally remembered my lock key so I chained it up. After my 7 hour shift, I walk to the back only to find the lock had been cut, and my bike was gone. FML

Today, I biked to the store to buy a new lock, since biking is my only form of transportation. I left my bike unattended for the last time, only to come back with a new chain, but no bike. FML

Today, my bike was stolen. Partially. Since I always locked it up, some asswipe thought it would be funny to steal the handlebar stem and the seat, leaving the actual handlebar dangling by the brake cables. Since there was no way to steer or sit, I had to carry my bike one mile back to my dorm. FML

Today, I rode my bike to the store because I only had a few things to pick up. When I walked back out after five minutes, my bike was stolen. I had gone to the store to buy a new bike lock. FML

Today, I rode my bike to the grocery store. I left my bike on the small bike rack they have outside the door. When I came out 5 minutes later I found someone had tied their enormous, growling German Shepard to the same rack. I had to wait for the owner to come out who then laughed at me. FML

Today, someone had put a lock on my bike. While I was trying to saw it off, the police drove by. I was arrested for trying to steal a bike and released four hours later when they figured out that it was actually my bike. FML

Today, I saw my bike locked outside a Starbucks down the street from my house. It was stolen about 10 days ago from my communal laundry room. There was even a cop parked across the street, but I have no proof to show that bike even belonged to me. FML

He didn't literally see the guy. He just walked to his bike to find it chained to another bike. I would suggest you slash the tires.

Been there. Done that. I locked mine at the rec center, grabbed my bus to work, and came back to find someone had looped their cable lock through the bike rack and my bike. I just rounded up a facilities management person and had them hack it right off. I left a note that apologized for cutting through their cable lock (a U-lock would have required a blow torch to remove, so this was a small mercy), but also told them they were an idiot. I hope their bike didn't get stolen, because they didn't deserve anything that bad.

You should just cut the chain and leave a nice little note for them. Whoever did that deserves to have someone cut their chain for them because they were really stupid to do it. Honestly, it's not often people will have similar schedules (i.e. entering/leaving times).

If you arrange things in your dorm properly you can store a bike in your room. Some schools also have bike lockers for rent. The cost of a bike locker is not worth it if you are riding a $99 wal-mart bike or a cheap single-speed/fixie. But yeah, FYL.
