This is not so bad. This means that the parents think he is very smart, and expected this to happen
FYL - not because your parents probably congratulated you adequately and moved on, but because you are a pompous SOB who expects the world to revolve around you. I had a similar situation tho - I got accepted to a Masters program that only accepts 7 students in the country. We went out for dinner to celebrate. My brother, who's 25 and still lives with my mom cos he can't hold down a job (even in the family business) dominated the conversation with his latest attempt at finding himself - he's going to build yachts. Apparently. But that isn't FML because my life is awesome (= The moral of the story: GET OVER YOURSELF
This is probably the only reason to boast what youve accomplished to the world, no one cares you are doing well cuz we dont know you, but we dont think youre a douche, so thumbs up
Oh dear, must have overlooked #16 the first time through... In response to #16, yes. Yes it does. In terms of being more likely to get a good job, it really does make someone going to a top University A LOT better than someone going to a random shit one. And while getting in may not mean they will eventually graduate, by getting in they have proved themselves better than all the people who didn't get in, and proved to the people who decided to let them in that they are capable of graduating with good marks. I am not in any way saying that people who don't go to top universities can't be successful in life. But it is definitely the case that by having a degree from somewhere like Harvard, you are more likely to get a good job because by getting that degree you have shown a higher level of aptitude than someone with a degree from a worse university.
I agree with #19
I hope Adam wins!
I agree with those who think your parents expected you to be accepted! They are confident about your abilities so you're so much luckier than many on FML who hear from their relatives' mouthes that they are mistakes or failures that won't achieve anything in life... (I am French so don't hesitate in the next comments to correct my English)

"prestigious, right?" kinda killed it.
