Today, I was at my job as a cashier when a man called me his "Grocery Slave." I was almost offended, but then I thought about my salary. I am a Grocery Slave. FML

Yeah, I live in a town with 4 colleges in it and nearby, so it's very difficult to find a job. I've applied literally EVERYWHERE that I could even remotely be considered for, and this was the only option I had, so I took it, and I'm very grateful for it! Even if people tend to act like idiots towards me

I worked in retail for years. Retail employees ARE slaves and subject to the whims of others, unfortunately.

Way to cheapen the word slave while discounting what millions of people suffered through for generations. Perhaps you should study the word and history of slavery before saying that a slightly low PAYING job that you voluntarily work at is slavery!

Ohhgod, it was a joke, I don't think real slavery is funny D':

@66 want some cheese with that whine? No? How about we all chip in and buy you a sense of humor for Christmas.

Moments of clarity sometimes come from unlikely places.

You're crazy dude, I work in a smaller store than a big chain, so I do ALL that stuff you just said. I'm constantly running around finding stuff for people, bringing people things, loading stuff heavy stuff into peoples cars, dealing with irrate customers myself, etc.

OP everyone has got to start somewhere. It's not important where you start, it's where you finish.

OP's statement would have even more credibility if she works for "Slaveway" as the employees there call it.

Makes me glad I no longer work in grocery.

I know the pain. Im a bagging engineer getting a machining certificate.
