pixelbaker tells us more.
The "documents" were basically just data sets pulled from a database stored on a workstation in the office. This workstation is not backed up. Yes, the company is full of morons. No, I'm not fighting it because this was the last straw of many last straws. I don't want to work for these idiots any more.

She should have someone else handle all the 'technical' stuff with her computer if she doesn't know the difference between close windows and delete all documents. All you have to do is go to 'File' and then 'New Window' to know what a window is, unless she's never had two windows open at the same time, which is extremely unlikely. I'm not even that good with computers. (:
People are ******* retarded.
So, if I call OnStar, and they tell me to turn on my emergency flashers, but instead I blow up my car, can I get the OnStar rep fired?
I love this comment! But, to the OP, I'm so sorry people today are so stupid and they caused you to lose your job. =(
WTF?! How OLD was this person?! NO one should be THAT computer illiterate in 2009....that's just plain frightening... Seriously...I'd hate to think that someone as stupid as that had control over "important company documents" when she obviously doesn't know how to operate a simple computer! Seriously, scary.
This sounds fake several times over. As they were documents, the files deleted would have been text, pdf, and cellsheets of a few different types. Such files are rarely large enough to even come close to the recycling bin limit for Windows or most Linux distributions (the latter of which is likely irrelevant). Should the files have been stored on across a network, then any company worth its snuff would have an active back-up program. Finally, Business and Enterprise versions of Vista both come with the Shadow Copy feature which operates in the same manner as Time Machine as does Server '03 and later. In order for the files to have been deleted, the OS could not have been Microsoft based on the machine or the network in the business environment. I call shenanigans. Either the business ran off of outdated software which is poor for businesses without an up to date network or this is fake.
has anyone seen idiocracy?

FYL, a person that doesn't know the difference between 'close' and 'delete' shouldn't be allowed near a computer.
While reading this FML I thought it would end with the woman closing her windows (as in the glassy things you can look through), but this is even worse. What an incredibly stupid human being.
