Today, I was at work doing phone computer support helping a woman with her computer. I asked her to close all her open windows. She deleted all the important company documents in the open folder instead. I got fired because "close windows" and "delete" have become "too technical" for users. FML

pixelbaker tells us more.

The "documents" were basically just data sets pulled from a database stored on a workstation in the office. This workstation is not backed up. Yes, the company is full of morons. No, I'm not fighting it because this was the last straw of many last straws. I don't want to work for these idiots any more.

FYL, a person that doesn't know the difference between 'close' and 'delete' shouldn't be allowed near a computer.

While reading this FML I thought it would end with the woman closing her windows (as in the glassy things you can look through), but this is even worse. What an incredibly stupid human being.

Exactly! Bravo to your conclusion. I say the same myself.

If it was a REAL company with IMPORTANT documents they will run nightly backups and can recover those files. As long as this isn't fake you'd be dumb not to be fighting it RIGHT NOW. OP, I feel your pain. I just quit my tech-support job of two years yesterday. I can only imagine the other shit that woman gave you. It wasn't your fault; it was the company's fault for allowing sensative data to be in the hands of a potentially-dangerous individual.

That's stupid. You shouldn't get fired for a woman being an idiot. Who doesn't know what "close all windows" means? XP You just hit the Red-X button!

Not to worry... The Angry German Kid is on his way!

Too technical? No. People are just getting stupid. But seriously, those were the only copies of the documents? If they were important, then they should have had copies of the documents.

Wow.You should have to take a course and pass a test before anyone is allowed to use a computer. I worked in tech support for 2 years. People are idiots.

So your company doesn't have a simple backup?

were you dealing with a retard or something 'cause it sure sounds like it.

Wow, that sucks incredibly. Some people are just fricking idiots. And sometimes Windiws computers on networks don't send deleted files to the Recycle Bin, trust me, I know. But that lady doesn't know anything. Deleting files is WAY different (and very different) from simply closing the window. That just really sucks for you.
