Today, I was babysitting my young cousins who are obsessed with Narnia. So to appease them, we checked every closet in the house. We never did find Narnia, but we did find sex toys. Lots of them. FML

EevieBear tells us more.

Hey guys! Op here. I'm pleasantly surprised this got published! I guess I should have explained the whole situation a lot better. It was not my idea to snoop, as I was making them dinner, and I heard doors opening and closing. I went to investigate, praying it wasn't a break in. Instead, I found the kids looking through the closets. I asked them to stop, sit down, and watch tv while I continued cooking. I watched them go back to the main room by the kitchen where I was, but I guess they snuck back out. When I checked on them again, they were looking at, you guessed it, sex toys.

Just tell them that it is the evil closet. Should scare them from ever going in there.

Buzz and Woody are branching out to wardrobes now!

I'm amused by all the people assuming that the closet raising was OP's idea. I mean, yeah, it could have been, but it could have just as easily been one of the kid's ideas. The amount of people saying they deserve it for going through the closets are also making other assumptions. One for example being that people are assuming the parents' room was off limits, when it could have been open.

My parent's room was semi open, but we kids didn't go in there because it smelled like my dad's farts. He is like an 'Air Wick' spritzer. Always "refreshing" the air.

lol no man no parents bed room is ok to go into unless you need the bathroom, for synchronizing bathroom of multi kids. as for her going through parents bedroom closet or personal cabinets and stuff that closed. even the kids shouldnt be allowed to go through all their stuff. ops intentions were good but you overstepped bounds in parents room. however if the toys were in a different closet say hall closet then thats on parents.

It doesn't matter you DO NOT go into the PARENTS bedroom. Op could have made up an excuse any excuse to stop the kids (thats why as a babysitter you have to be smart & quick on your feet)(it's okay, it's not made out for everybody) , and relative or not DON'T GO INTO THE ADULTS BEDROOM. Plain & simple, it's not hard.

Op here! I know I probably sound very desperate replying to all these comments, but I think everyone is making assumptions. I agree, I worded the FML very poorly. So, I apologize for that. But to be clear, I did not go into the bedroom. I was cooking dinner and the children were going through the closets. If you care, you can read my follow up, everything will en explained there. Thanks!

I had the same thing happen at my house #35. Our dads must have been related lol.

YDI for going through their closets without permission. You're a babysitter not an investigator.

That's what you get for looking though people's stuff. You should have only looked in the linen cupboard and the kids' closets. Looking anywhere else, especially in other people's rooms is inappropriate- the children should be learning that too, you just set a bad example.

Well I guess you kind of deserve it for going into someone else's wardrobes.

So you taught them about sex toys and invasion of personal space at the same time. You really did that to yourself, what did you expect in an adult couple's closet?

As long as they don't think those toys as Narnia weapons you are good

And for the whole "to appease them we checked every closet in the house" that was a mistake on my part. Sorry!

That's got to suck for everyone involved. If you aren't too embarrassed by it, I'd give the parents a head's up about the situation.
