SSeizeTheDay tells us more.
In retrospect it probably was the pharmacy tech who made the comment, I'm never sure who's who behind the counter. Regardless, I'll be calling the store in the morning to report them and figure out if I need to do anything else to get their ass fired. Also, just for the record epilepsy is far from a "mild ailment". I consider myself lucky that I've come away from most of my seizures scoff free. But even so, I've broken three ribs, had a concussion, and incurred facial scarring from falling when I seize. Not to mention that my short term memory is shot to hell and with every seizure I have I run the risk of further cognitive decline. But yeah, the medicine is definitely unnecessary. Right.

Yeah, OP! Just quit shaking about like that. You don't need no medicine!
Yes, kids these days .. Faking epilepsy to get anti-seizure drugs. Shame on you.
Were you born with stupid or did you somehow purchase it?
Must've been born with it bc I'm pretty sure it's illegal to be that stupid.
Sue them. Sounds to me like you have a case!
You have a case too- a case of the stupidest. How on EARTH is this sue worthy? You can't sue for being a douche...
Some of that is true people think that any little thing needs medication now a days. In my case my teachers always told my mom I should be put on medication for add but, my mom talked to my doctor who said that she should wait to see if I grow out of it and I did. My cousin who is 7 Is now on medication for add and he is so quiet and depressed looking. I feel bad for him and think he doesn't need the medication. Before he was put on the medication I never saw any behavior that seemed bad enough to warrant the side effects of his medication. in OPs case they definitely needed the medication so I hope the doctors comment want directed at OP.
I agree completely. I've been of my ADHD meds for 3 months and feel great. I just need my Prozac to supplement my depression issues, but I'm working on coping with that without the medications as well. I don't want to rely on medication for the rest of my life.
Hogman I think you just proved you don't have ADD by writing such a long-ass comment and using punctuation through-out. Well done
What are you talking about? Why would having ADD affect their comment? You are very ignorant if you think having ADD makes a person stupid. And honestly the ignorance in your post makes you sound much more stupid than anyone with ADD.
Yes I do. My husband has ADD and he has no problem using proper punctuation. If that's not what he was trying to say, that what was he trying to say?
add is defently more visible in a classroom setting than like playing with toys. but I agree that giving pills at 7 is silly.
He was saying someone with ADD would have trouble sitting there and writing us a novel of a comment. It was a joke, and a funny one at that.
45 It's sad that his parents make him take medication because, when he's not taking it he's a perfectly normal kid but, while he's on it he sits quietly like he's depressed. My girlfriend has Tourettes and she went through a lot of what you went through and weaned herself off her medication she is doing much better now since she learned to control it herself. Sometimes medication is not necessary even though it exists and often times the side effects are worse than the condition itself. That's why it should only be used in cases where the condition is bad enough to require medication.
I'd like to mention that some people "grow out" of ADD/ADHD, but many don't. Your case may not have been severe enough to warrant attention with medication or disability-related accommodations, but there are many people who are not so fortunate as you. Many people need the medication to function normally and on par with their peers. (Although, I will note here I don't support giving stimulants to kids as young as seven unless the ADD/ADHD is severe (to the point where the child is unable to finish exams in the time allotted for the class) because it may be unnecessary in the long run.)
#68 no, what are YOU talking about?
#101 -the problem with ADHD is that it is used as a blanket term, by parents and teachers more often than doctors, to describe a child that is a little more hyper than their peers. While I won't deny that ADHD does exist, the medication given to many children is unnecessary (and often sought after because a teacher made a fuss about the "problem child" in the class)... at least that's how it is around where I grew up...
Your name completes the FML..
I sincerely hope that you reported him.
Why is the pharmacist bitching? He's there to push drugs and if doctors say so. So, shut up and count out the pills, Mr. Gower!
That is so wrong it is funny. As a pharmacy student, I can certainly say I see people get their prescriptions turned down because they are filling their CII prescriptions way too early. You can't go to prison for not filling someone's prescription on time, that's ridiculous. We do more than count pills! There is no way I'd go to college for 8 years to learn to count by 5's. that's the technician's job!
Yep #37 - I tried to get on BC for a few different reasons, none of which involved sex and the pharmacist refused to fill it saying that as a 14yo I had no right to be on BC to (quote) "Be sexually active against my parent's knowledge and approval". Now 2 things. A) like I said, I wasn't on it for sex and B)...I was 19 at the time. NOT 14. Even though my DOB was there and everything. Had to take it to a pharmacy 40 minutes away because he rung every pharmacy within a reasonable distance and told them to refuse me as I was lying about my age. >.>
#86 Ugh. Pharmacists (and doctors) who refuse to prescribe or fill a prescription for BC are the worst. I'm in my late 20s and I still have trouble getting birth control. In the past doctors have shamed me, made gross insinuations about my sex life, or tried to force me to get pap tests before they will prescribe me BC. >_>
A Pharmacist that refuse plan b or birth control is an asshat. Unless they are actually out of it at the moment (plan b can be popular). My husband who is pharmacist got in an argument during his school years with religious students about how they thought plan b was wrong.... They just learned it doesn't kill the baby like abortion pills, it keeps the sperm from connecting with egg and the egg sheds the lining..... Idiots.
@#75 -- you seriously better hope you never have me as your CPhT. You seriously think all you have to do is check pretty colored pills? HA! From RX clarifications to AB ratings to DURs and other shit, you'll be plenty busy and I'd make sure I went from my 30 second inputs to around 2 minutes just to watch you get cussed out 30 minutes later by the person I told 10 minutes for either their fentanyl First BML MW that I knew damned well had to be made........or worse, Duke's MW where you have to grind those pills to dissolve in Nystatin and that takes a good chunk of time unless you know how to dissolve them without grinding. In reality I wouldn't actually do this because I love my patients too much, but I've seen many a tech do that. Keep thinking the tech has to do everything and that's the silent response you'll earn. Asshole PharmD = passive agressive CPhTs ;) Keep in mind that a tech can make your career pure hell. Respect the tech and the tech will respect you.
There have been times when the patient pissed me off enough to where I slowed down and took my sweet time filling their prescription. Now mind you it was never over ten minutes but it was noticeable enough.
I have epilepsy too and if someone said that to me I would be p*ssed, but also rather confused lol.

your username is the best pun ever.
That is ridiculously unprofessional and degrading to you. I'm normally against all of the "sue him/her"-type comments, but perhaps a formal complaint is warranted here.
