How do you not like Watermelons?! Watermelons are the kings of the family Cucurbitaceae. these wonderous like fruitations have many uses to the man kind as well. these uses include helmet protection, for your own convenience please perform a traditional ceremony for the quiet knight before cutting it open for you rather primitive member. once this glorious shell protects those bare part of thee head, the opposite sex will come hither in a shapes and sizes. This is yet only one of the many marvelous uses of the Watermelon. Fyl for not liking Watermelon, you crazy as hell. :)
How did liking watermelon and kool aid become black people stereotypes to begin with?
vine videos..
That stereotype has been around a lot longer than vine, a lot longer than the internet.
The watermelon stereotype dates back even before the 1800s, particularly in minstrel shows making fun of African American people. Watermelon used to be considered "peasant food," as poorer people ate it because it provided a large meal with substance. This is where it got it's connection to the African American community during the slavery era, because they were the primary poor, lower class of the time. The fruit was associated with being unclean, lazy, ignorant, stupid and primitive, so promoters of slavery used it to depict African Americans as a simple-minded people who were perfectly happy when given watermelon and little rest (showing that alls they needed was simple pleasures and justifying owning and working them to death). In short, this "all black people like watermelon" stereotype comes from slavery era racism that considered black people inferior.
The chicken one does too because it was actually African American slaves that figured out how to bread and fry chicken. Idk where the kool aid one is from, but it's definitely older than the Internet.
That's messed up
Was he/she really surprised that you don't like watermelon because you're black OR that you don't like watermelon in general? I would be surprised that someone does not like watermelon regardless of their race.
Some people are crazy.
Color should'nt matter though , if you don't like watermelon you don't like it :o
Just ignore the ignorance OP. I've been in the same boat as you plenty of times just because I don't meet the black stereotype. It's a sad world we live in.
I feel you OP, I eat baked chicken but not on Sundays, I'm allergic to grape juice, and I don't like kool-aid, I don't like rap and I suck at hip-hop, somehow it's crime to others.
One of my best friends is black and she truly dislikes watermelon, actual melon and flavoring alike. I thought nothing of it until another friend of her's was harmlessly laughing at her for it and they were joking with each other about the stereotype. It's strange to me how stereotypes like that exist in the first place.

I don't even know why those are stereotypes for us. Most people love chicken, kool-aid and watermelon. I'd say if you are gonna marginalize people for not likin those three, do it off the strength of the deliciousness of those food items. Not because of the color of your skin. Shame on you OP for being a HUMAN BEING who doesn't like watermelon.
That's so uncalled for, on top of being incredibly rude. I don't like watermelon either, but that doesn't warrant calling me a bitch. I'm sorry, OP. Try to take the high road, and move on... Holding a grudge will only let your anger fester.
