Today, I was cleaning my apartment because I'm moving. I was being really thorough so I could get as much of the damage deposit back as possible. I noticed I still had one of those 3M plastic hooks on the wall, and when I went to carefully take it off, a large chunk of the wall came with it. FML

That happened to me! I hadn't paid a deposit, but I would have had to pay if the apartment was damaged. I glued back in as much of the chunk as I could, and I never heard anything about it....and even received paperwork saying I didn't owe anything. So they either didn't notice or didn't care! lol

You know you're supposed to pull that little tab at the bottom right? I'd really be surprised if you could take off a chunk of the wall if you did it the right way.

I hate those hooks. They claim to come right off the wall but in reality, you have to scrape them off the wall or they take the wall with 'em. Pieces of crap. *grumble*

Yeah, it's not that hard to fix. Also, even if you didn't fix it I doubt they'd keep your entire security deposit for something like that.

yea last year in my dorm my roommate got drunk, sat on my bed, leaned back and stuck her head through the wall. her boyfriend fixed it totally halfass and nothing ever came of it.

WOW! IS YOUR NAME HERCULES?? YOU MUST HAVE HUGE MUSCLES TO BE ABLE TO RIP SOME OF THE WALL OUT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS! SUCKS ABOUT THE DEPOSIT, MAYBE YOU CAN PUT SOME SPACKLE OVER IT AND PAINT IT WHITE AND THEY WON'T NOTICE??

my cat for some reason tore off a piece of my wall and i got a spackle kit at walmart for 10 dollars that fixed it right up. landlord didn't even try to charge me for it.

You kinda deserve it for not removing the hook the right way. But you can probably just fix it yourself and they won't even notice.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. That is their selling point, that they won't damage the walls. I bought some cheap spackle/plaster repair stuff and really fine sandpaper and fixed mine and they never knew. I was luck my walls were white so I did not have to paint it.
