Maybe he was trying to say "I hate seeing you cry" and "I love you" at the same time, and thats what came out instead OP... I hope... that or crying is a turn on for him, i myself find it kind of sexy when a guy cries because, as one commenter also said, it shows vulnerability... Anyways, sorry your cat died, and I hope you let your boyfriend explain himself.
