Makeup enhances your look. So if OP's cousin isn't used to seeing her without the 'enhancement' she might not look AS pretty, as she normally would if she didn't wear makeup. If you catch my drift.

If I said something like that as a kid, I would have honestly thought it was a complement. I did have a pet rat that I thought was the cutest thing ever. That being said said, my mother would have slapped the hell out of me in front of god and everybody!
