Today, I was getting ready to go out with my family. As I was putting my phone in my purse, my father told me I wouldn't need it because we were going to spend 'quality time' together. The entire time I was there, everyone was staring at their phone. I was the only one without one. FML

Should have had them put their phones on the middle of the table first one or touch their phone pays the bill.

In this day and age, you probably won't find anyone without a smart phone. You should have brought it in secret, but still, FYL.

still would've turned it off & had it in my bag

Least you respected them even though they didn't respect you.

Quality time with others via texting...just bring it anyway in the future just because it's with you it doesn't mean that you'll be on it

I live in Korea, and people are quite literally attached to their phones to the extent that it's difficult to talk to people normally. I use my phone a bit, but I hate when people expect me to respond to their phone calls/texts immediately.

I think ydi because you should have taken it anyways for emergencies.

This reminds me of an American Dad episode

I was on a date with this guy and he was on his phone most of the time. For whatever reason it's commonplace now. personally I took a snap of him sitting there on his phone how I saw him and sent it to him. His face when he got it was priceless but hey it was effective: he put it down and we talked the rest of the time. I honestly believe some people have no clue how rude it is or at least how long they end up doing it.

Life isn't Acctually that different in Dubai then the rest of the world. I currently live here and it seems just like America or Australia. Except the brands are different
