Today, I was giving a lecture to my class I heard a phone go off. Aggravated and exhausted, I asked everyone to turn their phones off. Then the phone rang again. I lost my shit and spent the next half hour calling my students a bunch of "technology whores". Then I realized the phone was mine. FML

Today, while teaching my class, I hooked my laptop up to the projector and put on a documentary. I left it playing and went to the toilet. When I came back, the whole class was talking to my mother. She must've Skyped me while I was gone and someone answered the call. FML

Today, my phone rang during a meeting. I quickly silenced it, and put it in my pocket. A few minutes later, my boss’s phone rang. It was me, butt-dialing him while we were sitting in the same room. He answered and asked if I had something urgent to discuss. I did not. FML

Today, I needed to call my mom to get some info so I dialled the number on my work phone. Not 2 seconds after, my cellphone rang. I got super pissed off because I hate when people call me on my cell at work. It was me. I'd dialled my own number. FML

Today, as I was yelled at by a middle school teacher in front of 30 6th graders for breaking the rule of "no cell phones in school." Luckily, I escaped being sent to the office after explaining I'm a 21 year old college student doing student teaching observations, not a middle schooler. FML

I agree with all the people who say you should recognize your own ringtone, and with #104 - this story is so unoriginal that I knew how it would end after reading the first sentence. You can at least take comfort in the fact that many others share in your stupidity.

@#35. I'm not saying what the teacher did was ok. I'm simply playing devils advocate. The teacher overreacted. But honestly. All these people saying "it's not that big of a deal if I look at my phone when it's not hurting anyone" are obviously little 13 and 14 year olds who have no idea how ******* annoying it is when you're sitting in class and then someones phone starts vibrating. And it actually does hurt. Not a physical hurt, but it's distracting and then the teacher has to stop and yell at you to turn off your phone. Which never would have needed to be said if people just followed directions in the first place and kept their damn phones turned off.

God, I hate people who can't silence their phones when they go to class. Even worse is when they start lecturing others about how they can't behave, while they are being the asses themselves. You so deserved it, dude ;)
