Today, I was helping my friend put up a wooden fence at his new house. I was holding the sections of fence up while he nailed them in with an air powered nail gun. The gun malfunctioned and fired twice putting the second nail through my hand and into the wood. We had to pry the nail out. FML

It is also the correct version of FYL. YLIF indicates that you are concurring on the ****** nature of OP's life. FYL technically means that you're cursing the OP's life even more! EDIT: This was in reply to #21.

that sucks. I wouldn't have pulled it out though. you gatta get pictures and freak out your friends first. lol

Aren't you supposed to leave the nail in until you get to the ER incase you hit an artery and extracting the nail will make you bleed lots....

exactly my thoughts! And extracting would probably have caused more damage than necessary...I mean, if he's alive to post this fml he's probably not dead from bleeding out This post must have taken a long time to poke out with his good hand

#38- OP's hand was nailed to the fence, so unless they brought the whole fence with them to the ER, I guess I can understand why OP pryed the nail out of their hand :P

Ahhhh the second painful one!!! ouchh dude that suxx I'm sorry 8/

my husband has had this happen to him a couple times, and it happens to pretty much every carpenter that operates a nail gun.. they misfire all the time and shoot twice. I hope you didn't pull the nail all the way out of your hand- just out of the wood so you could get medical help. You could have hit a nerve and done permanent damage. My husband is a pretty tough guy, but he'd never pull the nail out of his own hand, that's just stupid.

Here's a work safety tip - don't leave anything you don't want punctured within the forward range of the nail gun, etc. Accidents of this nature are common enough in the particular field, but they are also mostly avoidable if you use proper procedure.

uhh im not using my hands anymore.ill probly dress up like an old person to live in a retirement home where people will feed me.

Yep. But if you get lockjaw, there's no better way to lose weight.

sounds like a home improvment episode to me.
