Today, I was in a Zumba class with a young woman in her 20s and an older woman in her 80s. I couldn't keep up with either one of them. FML

I just started Zumba recently too. Ive gone to 3-4 classes now and yeah there are some grey haired ladies in there that do it better than me but they've been going for a while. As a newbie to something like this it just takes a while. There are a lot of songs and routines to memorize and if your teacher is like mine she changes it almost every week. There will always be people better than you and people that will be beginners that you will get better than. Just stick with it and don't worry what other people think.

I'm with you. I just started Zumba and it's so much fun and a great workout but it is a challenge to get all of the steps down!

I felt that way at first. Every class seemed all new to me, then after a while you begin to realize that numbers repeat. After you've been at it a while, you'll start wishing the teacher would bring in new numbers. What drives me nuts is when you go to different teachers who have different steps for the same songs. I wish I could do Roberta's "Danza Kuduro" in Jessica's and Mindy's classes!

I did one Zumba class too. Most were in their teens and a bit older than me with a few adults. I'm 24 and couldn't keep up perfectly with any of them. It was challenging.

Zumba's hard as hell. There's no reason you should think you are just going to walk in there and be able to keep up with people who know what they are doing. I'm a middle-aged dude and college girls always come into class with swagger and leave in a heap, all while I keep up with the teacher for the whole hour. I point this out to them with glee -- I wonder why I never get laid?
