Today, I was in an elevator with my brother and a woman. He signs to me that she has a 'damn fine ass'. I chuckle and then shake my head. He shrugs. A second later the woman signs to us, 'Rick, don't you remember me?' Turns out she helped teach my brother sign language when he was six. FML

Agreed with #13.. I think someone is just inventing different ways to share the same basic FML.

not really oyur fml, but still hilarious. how old is your brother? and How old is she? cuz im picturing 20 guy and like, 65 year old woman:P lol, still funny

That's pretty cool actually. Small world huh?

What are the chances??? What a small world...

I would have started screaming on the elevator. Just for fun. They can't hear it.

Just because they know Sign Language doesn't always necessarily mean they're Deaf... My brother is taking Sign Language in high school for fun and since I'm majoring in it, sometimes we communicate in sign, either for fun, to help him, or even just to have a private conversation. So screaming in an elevator may just be a way to get your ass kicked for being annoying and ignorant :P

FML or not, that's hilarious and just made my day.

#16: It could be a girl around the brother's age who was a fluent speaker of ASL when she was little. ASL is the native language of a lot of deaf people. I'm not sure whether that would make it more or less awkward though.

#13 it was actually one for Chinese and another for Swedish... but yeah, all in the last few days. Weak. "Today, I was doing X when I said OFFENSIVE-STATEMENT in some-non-English language. Then the target of OFFENSIVE-STATEMENT turned around and made me look a fool by responding in said some-non-English language. FML." Not even a good template, to be honest.

Hmm. I wonder how she took it =D Maybe he scored with his sign language teacher? haha

I honestly think his brother deserved it. Too many people like to talk in a different language purposefully or knowingly excluding everyone else from the conversation to feel superior. When they say comments like this, they get what they deserved for being smug jerks.

It is slightly different for hearing people to speak 2 different languages. Ya, ok they don't want you to understand what they are saying. Deaf people don't often communicate any other way so it really isn't even intentionally.
