Americans! Y U NO learn to drive stick-shift from the start? If you know that, learning automatic is easy. Also, manual gives a much better control of the vehicle...
Grind it till you find it. There's a gear in there somewhere.
like many others have said, be happy he didn't give you a ticket!! He probably didn't pull you over just to laugh at you, he most likely wanted to know why you weren't driving right or if something was wrong. Im sure once he realized you were a beginner that's when he thought it would be better to just laugh. I have met a bunch of dick cops in my life, i've also met a few very reasonable cops.... years ago i was pulled over, on the highway, while driving my 5speed, on a suspended license. the cop had every right to impound my car, even arrest me if he wanted. instead he let my friend who had never ever driven stick, drives my car back, he even followed behind us as she stalled out six time on the highway! Not every officer is on a power trip just waiting to 'get you'...unfortunately i have met more who are like that. OP, go out on a dirt road that doesn't have much traffic and learn!

Can someone explain to me what a "stick " is? I drive and I have never heard of that type of vehicle
An irritating colloquialism for a manual transmission car
i learned how to drive stick after tailgating after my universitys football game because my buddy got too drunk to drive his car. him being 22 wasted and me being 19 and slightly buzzed. i stalled his car out twice in the street n missed two green lights n people honkin. but i got the hang of it.
104- Oh in UK I have only ever heard them called manual trasmission or gears, maybe its an American thing

Don't worry, I still love you
Yeah. I totally agree. They only keep entire communities as safe as possible. Total dicks.
