Every time I press the unlock button for my car, I think of this type of situation. "What if some creepy asshole has time to hide in the back?" is what I worry about most, especially after one of my mini-cop drama marathons, lol. That's why I just hit the lock button instead, since I feel the need to press SOMETHING.
Hey #23 the OP didn't say that his car had keyless entry. He could have had a car starter which yes, you can unlock your doors from quite a ways. I should know, I used to have one.
used to? did it get stolen when you turned it on?
#33 no smart ass, my car did not get stolen when I turned it on. My idiot bf washed the starter part so I can't use it anymore
Everyone needs to ******* relax. There are hundreds of cars in a parking lot mall (unless you live in the middle of nowhere) so just the fact that on that particular day at that precise time you happen to be walking out while some asshole has chosen YOUR car, out of ALL the others, to break into... that is like a once in a lifetime thing. So it's absolutely not his fault if he normally unlocks his car by habit, because well yes, it may be stupid in the long run, but like, 99% of the time it's completely harmless. It just happened to **** him over ONCE. This is a true FML.
It may not be likely, but it still isn't smart to have one's car be unlocked in a place like a mall parking lot when one isn't right nearby or can see the car. Even if it is "harmless" most of the time, making the same stupid decision over and over is bound to catch up to the person eventually. Better not to do it in the first place.
kinda like speeding or drinking right? Everyone thinks that he/she has self control and won't get hurt. It's better if each person decides not to drive or drink, correct?
This is why I hate those remote things. What's the point of unlocking the car from far away? What difference does it make? I remember being frustrated that my new remote wouldn't unlock unless I was five feet away. I then learned it was a security feature. It makes no difference whether you unlock it 30 feet away.
YDI, you hit the lock button to find your car..not unlock.
that's why you do it when you're near it not from a ways away! DUH!
ydi for hitting unlock from so far away you didn't notice the guy. try the panic button next time

Don't unlock your car until you can see it!!! That is common sense 101 my friend.
Thank you for helping our fellow criminals do their jobs much more easily. You are indeed great help to the criminal law enforcement workers. We need more citizens like you.
