Today, I was lecturing my high school students on the importance of a good education. I pointed out the janitor in the hall and told them if they didn't stay in school, they'd end up like him. Then one of my students raised her hand and reminded me that the janitor I pointed to was her dad. FML

Ydi. A lot of people end up with jobs like that because they can't get anything better and at least they have a job.

Serves you right, OP. Why would you even say that? At least he ha s a job, you're not better than him or anyone else who does "dirty work".

YDI, end of story. Just for assuming a janitor can't have a successful life. You don't know if that's just his part time job!

Either way "Dady's girl" he may be perfectly happy with his job, you never know when one day you could end up working for him!

You're an asshole. Please check my grammar.

He might have wanted to be a janitor, anyway. It annoys me that so many people are basically pitying the guy, when he might be perfectly happy with the way his life has gone. Not everyone wants to be a teacher or a doctor or whatever. And OP is a wanker.

Very rude you completely deserved this. You could have gotten your point across without pointing somebody out.

Yep i would have to say what a piece of shit to judge people that way. Any paycheck is better then no paycheck. Should make that bitch scrub toilets every week

Just saying janitor's get paid awesome and they also have to go to college and get some safety degree before working

No. They don't. To both. Janitors get paid about $11 an hour, with limited career progression and most definitely do not require a degree. That said, there's nothing wrong with being a janitor. If nobody did the job then buildings would be messy and filled with broken stuff. No matter what TV tells you, most people don't end up in their dream job, usually people seem to fall into something be it temporarily (before they fall into something a bit better), or permanently. Making ends meet is sometimes all you can manage, but make ends meet you do. Even if the janitor's daughter hadn't been in the room you set an utterly horrible example to those kids; judging others so harshly and overtly because their job is just that bit less prestigious than yours is not only a terrible thing to do, but teaches kids to internalise prejudice. Do the world a favour and rethink your teaching strategy before you start making an impact on impressionable young minds.
