Today, I was lecturing my high school students on the importance of a good education. I pointed out the janitor in the hall and told them if they didn't stay in school, they'd end up like him. Then one of my students raised her hand and reminded me that the janitor I pointed to was her dad. FML

-_- You need to go back to a first grade manners class. There was a janitor in my middle school who had a very high paying job. But he quit it & decided to be a janitor because he liked the job. He was very well respected in my school. I'm surprised you're still teaching.

Yeah b/c in this economy that college education is going to ASSURE they get 6 figure salary's when they get out of college. I hope you end up losing your position b/c of that insensitive holier that thou comment.

I know a janitor that uses to cut Whitney Huston's hair, he got nerve damage and now can't. Obviously not all janitors are high school drop outs.

Everyone's job is important, that's what your object lesson should have been. Your attitude sucks and you deserve to have that girl and her parents file a formal complaint against you with the union and the board of education. You also owe that girl and her family an apology. There's plenty of people with less formal education that have way more common sense than that ignorant bitch. My grandpa was only educated til 8th grade, he had to leave school to help his family. (It was in the 1940's) He got a job in the mines, and once he had kids, worked odd jobs in addition to the regular job he was working all to support his wife and five kids. HE has more character and work ethic in his pinky than this dumbass has in her entire body. He's one of the smartest people I know, and he didn't even graduate highschool.His goal was for my dad to get his Highschool diploma, and my Dads goal is for me to get my college degree. And guess what i want to major in? EDUCATION! I hope I NEVER become a pompous holier than thou asshole like OP. You can be educated, and still be a total prick. There's plenty of great teachers that make a difference through education, and impact peoples' lives for the better. Education is such a good thing, and you make it look snobbish.

Could have worded that a lot different! I understand youre stressing the value of a good education, but you know what? Being a janitor does not mean youre less of a person. Its an honest living! I wash dishes at a pizza place and mow grass on weekends. Im only 18 and its part time but its honest work
