Today, I was making sweet potato chips using my new slicer. I didn't mean to make a pinky finger chip as well. FML

Ever heard of something called wearing protective clothing? No? Me neither

do gloves count as clothing? because if they do..... that's weird

Were the sweet potato chips worth it in the end? :9

Arrhghhhh can't bare to think of the imagery

Yes! Now is the time for the OP to take to the streets and go door-to-door as an evangelist of knife safety.

Been there before, except that it was apple slices and my ring finger. FYL.

Me also. Surgical steel knife while making beef stew and a thumb. Didn't even feel it. Lol, I was amazed at how clean the cut was even while talking to the Doctor in the ED. Boyfriend was thoroughly freaked.

For me it was my thumb, and a cheese grater. Lol.

I've got a nice scar on my right ring finger from a similar accident. I use the hand guard every time now, no matter what. I didn't even feel it when it happened, that edge was that sharp. Anyway, moral of the story, ALWAYS use the hand guard. No exceptions.

I'm pretty clumsy in the kitchen, so I don't use a sliver especially after my sister nearly needed stitches in her finger because of one. The other week, I did, however, accidentally grate the top of my finger/middle knuckle off while trying to grate cheese. I now take the safest possible option whenever handling sharp objects in the kitchen - I make someone else do it!!

Invest in some cut resistant gloves to wear when handling sharp objects.

It's the little things like that that hurt the most sometimes. It's also particularly annoying when they don't stop bleeding. Hope it heals nice and quick! :)
