Today, I was on the elevator going up to a meeting, and the elevator was getting more and more crowded as we went up. After about ten people got on, they all agreed that I should get off the elevator because they thought me being on was exceeding the weight limit. FML

This sounds fake to me too, particularly as I saw almost the identical same thing happen on an episode of Ugly Betty recently.

omg you guys make me sick.! how can you guys be so mean to fat people. like wtf? they are fat..okay w.e you act like as if they are doing something wrong. Is not that easy loosing weight..okay eating HEALTHY and moving around does help..but is not that easy. People are so ******* ignorant... saying fat people should die..not mother ******* you should die for being so ******* mean. Being fat can not be easy...and all you people are doing is making it harder for them.

a fatass has spoken!!! (being sarcastic unless you truly are a fatass) but seriously i agree with 137

I am not going to respond by calling you a jerk, as I doubt that would do anyone any amount of good. Instead, I'm going to simply ask what good hating a group of people based on something like body size does you? Does it help you in anyway? Does it advance your school work or career? Has it earned you any advantages in life? What is it that has made it so profitable for you to hate people that you can't even give someone a moment's empathy? If you have never dieted a day in your life, chances are you were never overweight. So you have no idea what it is like, regardless of what you may believe. Having poor genes because your mother smokes (which doesn't even make sense. That's a behavior, not genetic) and having genes that predisposition you to be overweight are two entirely different things. Also, once you gain weight - say during childhood, a period in which most of us are not conscious enough about our bodies and the way food works to make a concentrated effort to stay fit which is perfectly acceptable since when we are young staying with in a certain range of "attractive" should not be our prerogative - it's more difficult to lose. Good for you if you have always stayed in shape! It is not the case for everyone, however. Also, scientifically speaking, exercise is not the best way to lose weight. It is important, however, as it is the best way to stay healthy. Losing weight is something like 80% diet and 20% exercise. Seriously, I don't care what weight the OP was, I still see what happened to him as being rude and hurtful. First, if people were that concerned about the weight limit of the elevator, they should not have boarded in the first place. Second, those elevators are meant to be tough and the crowd was obviously sort of deluded to believe that one man would have made the difference between a cable snapping. Jesus, OP, I'm sorry you have to put up with rudeness hidden as "public concern" and I'm sorry you have to put up with hateful comments from high schools under the guise of "good advice".

They really said that? Next time say: "**** off! Take the stairs" :) Trust me, you really don't have to be nice again to them next time.

I would of said "you and whose army gonna make me get off? **** you, I'm not moving."
