YDI for chewing gum while a) on the phone to a client and b) in a front-desk position where you deal with clients face-to-face. Real classy.
I have a tendency to get myself into these kinds of awkward situations quite often myself. The best way I've found to deal with them is to play it off as funny. You've got to be able to laugh at yourself. A fun example: after you saw the customers walk in you could have confirmed (aloud) "yep. the girls are looking great today!"
Still depends on the position. If they were really important people she was talking to or sitting in front of i would probably be looking at the books to see if it is grounds for dismissal. Apparently she forgot she doesn't only represent herself but also her boss, the company she works for, the area she is in if they are travelers she is dealing with, etc. YDI
hot!
You kind of deserve it for chewing gum on the job. If you're in a job where you talk on the phone to clients from a lobby where customers walk in, the chewing gum is incredibly unprofessional.
don't chew your gum like a cow and that won't happen
if they were straight guys, and you're attractive, I think you're fine lol
If I was the client I'd rather walk in to you fishing in your top than chewing gum.
Don't chew gum while talking to clients; it's unprofessional.
why are you even chewing gum at work? especially while on the phone. ydi

Sucks to be you =/ but YDI, chewing gum, especially in a professional setting, is just poor etiquette.
Why were you chomping away on a piece of gum while on a professional phone call in the first place? Why are you chewing gum in the lobby where new clients get a first impression of you and the company you work for? Both are incredibly rude to your clientele and completely unprofessional. Absolutely your own fault.
