That's bullshit
This sounds like the plot to a crappy romance.
Quit your job. I'm willing to bet your boss has hired a relative. It's called nipitizm. Not worth the hassle.
I like how everyone is saying "quit your job". What if OP has a family that depends on him? He can't just up and quit, that would be incredibly irresponsible of him. Honesty, if you're repeatedly passed up, there is a reason. As others have said, try to make yourself flexible. If you're able to successfully do several jobs within the company, you're set. You would be too valuable to let go and they might be willing to give you any position you ask for. As far as current situation, I have nothing. Sorry, OP :(
#94-that's why people are suggesting he look for a new job. I'm pretty sure that when people tell him to quit, they mean not without finding a new job. And he's so being set up to fail. You can't force anyone to be successful, especially not someone with the kid's track record.
Do some volunteer work at the library, it is rewarding and you get some benefits. The job is also a jack of all trades job and you get to do a little of everything. Or just do some ununsal things to beef up your cv and covertly hunt around for other stuff.
Dang that's messed up!
confront your boss about this.. or find a new jobbbb ssap
