This may help; try playing games in public (portable games are a plus). I met my current boyfriend four years ago in a library who was impressed with my skills at Tetris. I've also made new friends and have had great conversations with guys who played Pokemon and met up in a coffee shop to trade, battle, and swap strategies. Instead of "leaving the video games alone", try taking them with you to other places. You won't find potential if you start frequenting a "We Hate Video Games and Anyone Who Plays Them" club. Don't abandon your interests at the door; bring them with you!

Half of the problem here is that you are a real girl gamer and not a $2 ho taking a selfie with a controller half in your mouth or in your cleavage. The other half of the problem is that guys only think the hos are gamers and real girl gamers are "weird" and not girlfriend material.
