But, clearly, your fiancée wanted the ring immediately, so she paid for it, and you can pay her back. No big deal.

I don't even see why you should pay her back. Rings are expensive - if she gets to wear the ring, I would say she should pay for at least some of it - especially if this is something you two are shopping for together..
