Today, I was sitting in a café when I dropped my phone. After ages searching the floor for it, I realised it had dropped into the lady behind me's bag. She looked terrifying, so I thought I'd wait until she went to the bathroom. She never did, and I ended watching her walk out, with my phone. FML

You drop your phone, judge her on only her appearance, and then decide to risk rummaging around in her purse instead rather than just asking. YDI.

What could she do? It's not like she was going to bite you or something. Sorry op ydi for not growing a pair and asking for your phone back.

Were you scared she would knock ya ?

"Excuse me madam/miss, i dropped my phone and i think it fall in your purse, could you give it back to me please ?" "Thank you" It's that simple. What you wanted to do however, could have only brought you more problems as someone could have seen you and thought you stole something. And after that the woman would have been angry, that's for sure. Good thing it didn't happen. You deserved it.

Why would you let her leave? Why not just ask for your phone? Are you 10?

Why would you do that?? You could have easily explained the situation to her and I'm sure she would have given you your phone back. You totally deserve this one, OP.

A bag, like a purse? Why wouldn't she take it with her to the bathroom anyway? Even if it was just purchases, she'd still take it along..

Now call the cops and say she stole your phone. Or do the normal thing and tell the lady that I drop my phone in you bag by mistake

Dude, never judge a book by its cover. You could've told her what's up and she probably would have been happy to help you

Just ask her! YDI. Call it, use find my iPhone, something! If a strange noise came out of my purse I'd start searching!
