Today, I was taken to my first session with my psychiatrist. The entirety of the facility, from the waiting room to the doc's office was decorated with dead butterflies in glass. I was there for my crippling mottephobia, the irrational fear of moths and butterflies. FML

How can someone be afraid of butterflies? YDI

It isn't ironic. Irony requires sarcasm (dramatic or verbal). This has neither. This is a coincidence. Situational irony requires a reversal of sorts. Like wearing a suit of armor to protect you from the bears that come out during a thunderstorm, only to get struck by lightning because you are wearing a metal suit of armor in a storm.

I never knew until now that there was this many people who didn't understand how phobias work. Thank you OP!

butterflies eat carcasses........I understand his predicament but sometimes beautiful things have a dark part to em

I actually have that phobia. Summer sucks.

Don't they know that a phobia many people have is mottephobia? And yet they shove them right in their patient's face
