Today, I was taking a leisurely stroll through the woods in the nice cool weather, when a mountain biker came out of nowhere and tore past, barely missing me. As I counted my luck, another biker followed the first and crashed right into me. FML

Sounds like something out of a comedy movie. Haha damn. Hope you're alright.

Screw Bikers OP! They never obey laws or watch were they are going!

Not all bikers are like the one that hit op.

Or maybe OP was right in the middle of the trail. Thus the bikers had no way of avoiding him at all (except getting off the trail, and potentially injuring themselves, which then could've end up in a law suit against OP).

There isn't really an official law on a trail in the woods.. I've been hit by a car before when they ran the stop sign while texting.. Should I say screw everyone driving a vehicle because of that one person?

I'm pretty sure you just got trolled by karma...

Bikers need to learn how to "share the road"

You do know that on trails in the woods, people on bikes tend to have the right of way unless they are on a trail strictly for hiking.

As a mountain biker, I understand their faults however riding bikes with pedestrians present is incredibly difficult.

Then get off the bike until you can figure out how to avoid hitting people. It isn't the pedestrian's responsibility to get out of the way.

#46 Most trails tell you to watch out and clear the way for bikers. OP said they were going at high speeds, how can you avoid someone that's walking in the middle of a trail when you're going fast? There could've been an obstruction of sight, so they didn't see him until it was too late.

As a downhill biker myself, and from NC, most of the hiking trails are just that....HIKING trails. NOT biking. If they were on a trail, it's probably the cyclists fault. If it was just through the woods, then OP should have been more aware of the sounds of 2 bikes coming down towards him. Still, FYL

another reason why exercise is no good. people get hurt.

Oh bad luck...hope the injuries were not to major...

don't hike on MTB trail we are not expecting someone to be walking on the trails ydi for walking on a MTB trail

Why do you assume it was a MTB trail? OP never said. The lack of signs not being mentioned makes me think it was a pedestrian trail.

@47: Bikers are notorious for not following trails and signs. I think it is more likely they were somewhere they should not be...

Nothing in the post indicates he was on a mountain-bike trail. Nothing even indicates he was on any kind of trail whatsoever.

He was strolling through the woods. Why would you just "stroll through the woods?" There were trees everywhere, there could've easily been an obstruction of view do the bikers and didn't see op till it was too late.

You are the reason people dislike us as mountain bikers, 47. Please use some respect, our reputation is bad enough.
