Well shit, someone's a bit selfish and psycho... Just ignore her. It's you're day and you should be able to have it however you want(: try not to let her ruin it for you, and hopefully your fiancé is on your side. Good luck dealing with your monster-in-law
her mother in law you know the one shes stuck woth for the rest of her life
Then you'd be "copying" the majority of weddings. Her logic makes no sense. The world doesn't revolve around her. Do whatever YOU want to do on your special day.
"You also can't have music. Or bridesmaids. Or cake at the reception."
I would do all that stuff just to spite her
...aaaaand the other forty-two trillion brides.
The white wedding dress didn't actually become a thing until a few hundred years ago (1800s iirc?) and I doubt there have been that many brides since then... Also, why are people so uncreative with their weddings? OP should be able to wear what she wants, so why not deviate from the norm?
I'm pretty sure 16 was just exaggerating.
Ooh, tradition. Is it really that important? She could do ANYTHING for her "special day" and she just chooses to do what millions of other women have done? She could go scuba diving or wear a colorful dress or use carnivorous plants for a bouquet, and the only thing she can think of is plain old tradition? How dull. I don't even care that people are going to thumb this down. It's so true. People should actually think for themselves with these things, especially since it's supposed to be a day to remember. Who's going to remember it if it's the same as everyone else's?
Marriages have been happening all over the globe for quite some time, but technically #16 and the FML are referring to a specific kind of marriage with roses, a white dress, and a church. The white dress "tradition" is actually fairly new. Yes, it was hyperbole. That doesn't mean we can't also state the facts.
next time there's a wedding scene in a movie, say to her "White dress and a church? Look, she's copying you." Make it so that every wedding that pops up is an opportunity to mock her.
Tell her to get ******. You're marrying her son, not her.
110: I'm sure you are very clever, but your past few comments don't come off as witty at all. As I read through the comments, most just seemed patronizing and insulting in how they were stated, and many were taking the piss out of a perfectly acceptable comment. Of course this is just my opinion, your humor might be going right over my head, but maybe you should save your wit for a really priceless comment and knock everyone flat with it. I really look forward to witnessing your particular brand of sarcasm when it is deserved. :)
What a dumb bitch. I hope shes contributing to your ceremony for her selfish input

She also forgot to mention that you're not allowed to invite your future mother-in-law to the wedding. That'd be copying her too.
wow. sheesh. something tells me she might not approve of you marrying her son. not your fault though, OP. FYL!
