Well this was my post..to clear things up, we had been dating three years, what we agreed would be exclusive. She met her best guy friend about two years into our relationship and started "dating him too" about four months ago.

This is exactly what I was thinking. It's very possible OP just assumed she was his girlfriend when she thought they were only casually dating. We don't know if they were even having sex yet, so all these 'OP's EX-girlfriend is a bitch, ****, prostitute, etc.' comments are really ridiculous and presumptuous.

Personally I would look at the silver lining, you can get the benefit of being in a relationship while making the other guy go to the next Sex and the City sequel. Think of it as a division of labor.
