Today, I was telling my co-workers about how I'd gotten tickets to a concert in a few days. My boss overheard. Later, he told me I now have to work on the night of the concert. However, he was kind enough to offer to buy the tickets off me for half of what I'd paid for them. FML

Sell him a ticket and the other to the most irritating person you know

Photocopy the tickets, sell the photocopies to him, and the real copies to someone worthy of them. Voila.

That genuinely sucks. If there's anyway you can get a new job or do without for a bit than I'd get out of there asap - you don't know what other lowlife shit he might try and pull. Or if it's a larger company, make a complaint to the higher-ups. Assuming he did do it on purpose anyways.

Seriously what a dick move. Rip the tickets up right in front of him. Or if you need the money, Craigslist them bitches.

Ya I like this idea, make photocopies and tear them in front of him, or just rash them

He's actually doing you a huge favour. Grown men like you shouldn't be going to see Lady Gaga anyway. Ah, let the thumbs down parade commence! But just remember, it's not my fault her music sounds like nails on a chalkboard.

It's alright Doc, I don't really think she's on The Edge of Glory either.

you take that back! lady gaga is a talented, unique, musical genius and generations to come will try and draw from the vast pool of talent she left behind in her music. Great thinkers and philosophers will try and solve the question; what is a poker face? And more importantly, who the hell cares?

35) Oh look it's a Tuna. How.... delicious.

39- You grab the net, i'll fire up the grill.

WOW! Doc is optimistic! I was thinking that pos of a boss was trying to get his hands on Hanson tickets. Lol.

Lady gaga... There is nothing more annoying on this planet than that walking gimmick. Except, well, bieber.

Well first off of if it is a lady gaga concert (it didn't say who was performing at the concert) then yes I agree he's doing you a favor... Now if it's someone that's actually enjoyable, go to HR and explain your problem to them. If your boss isn't popular and if they think the performer is okay then you may be able to go to the concert

Well Mr. Bastard have to agree with on this one Lady GaGa music does suck.

It's so aggravating to know that people can sink that low. Your boss is an inconsiderate asshole. Hopefully someone can take over your shift!

Some people were bullied as kids so now they're bullies as adults. Some people just don't grow up, and abuse any power they're given.

I was bullied as a child, I didn't grow up to be a bully.

I suggest you act like this never happened and go to the concert anyways! :) good luck op hopefully your shift can be covered!!

If I was you I would still go just tell your boss look sorry but I can't work as you know I already have plans so you'll have to find someone else to do it and if he threatens to fire you be like for what? because you're trying to extort my tickets from me by making me work that night even though it's my night off and you're also offering me only half of what I paid for them? I doubt your bosses boss would be happy to hear how your boss is treating employees.

Pretend you can't remember that conversation and just go to the concert. **** ur boss.

He can't make you work if it is only a few days notice and you have plans. Call his bluff and tell the union

Yes, tell the union boss you refuse to work a scheduled shift so you can go party. The sad thing is, they'd likely sue the company out of business for "abusing" their workers.

If he wasn't originally scheduled to work that shift then he should tell the union

@64 From what I read it's quite clear that OP wasn't going to be working that night it wasn't till the boss overheard him talking bout the tickets that he was told he now has to work that night this is proven more by the fact that OPs boss offered to buy the tickets from OP at only half price. So yes the OP should go to his union boss if his boss refuses to let him have the night off. And also it is abusing workers because what the boss is doing is extortion.

Tell him **** no, and sell the tickets on EBay for more than you bought them for. You'll get paid for working, and you'll get some extra cash from the tickets. I hope my logic is correct for your situation.
