What a ******* piece of shit!! I would have said oh no that's ok, I have someone willing to pay me more then I paid for them! He would have either let you go, or had to pay you more so you could rip him off.
What a complete & utter loser!
**** him the job ain't worth it if he's an ass and makes you work over time and tries to take the tickets you bought
Right at the moment, that sounds very strongly of blackmail. He heard you telling your co-worker that you had tickets to a concert (Which you knew you were off at the time.) And then told you, oops, you have to work, but I'll buy the tickets off you. That's blackmail and he should have to refund you full price+ interest rate, or you go to the cops.
and that's when you call in sick
Nope make good looking fakes of the tickets rip them up in front of him with a "oh well guess since now I can't go" if he still makes you work then you sell the tickets to someone for what they are worth but **** your boss. What's next giving you a company vehicle that's a POS that you have to drive while saying, "I will take that BMW off of your hands cheap"

Sell him a ticket and the other to the most irritating person you know
Photocopy the tickets, sell the photocopies to him, and the real copies to someone worthy of them. Voila.
