Wow, yet another example of the wonderful socialized medicine in Canada.

And you honestly think that doesn't happen in the states? I am Canadian, and have never heard anything of this sort EVER from any doctor... And I've had a LOT of doctors. Okay, so our system may not be perfect. There are areas of Canada where there is no doctor, for example. But mostly everyone has access to health care in Canada. I have cousins in the States who can't afford to take their children to the doctor when they are sick. I've heard horror stories of low income families having their children die because they could not afford health care. Not only are ALL of our health care needs covered through taxes, we also pay FEWER health care related taxes than Americans do. Why? Because in the States, they cannot charge you for emergency health care if you cannot afford it. Because so many people cannot afford basic health care, they wait until their problems become emergencies... And, once they're emergencies, they are paid for by taxes. So if you really, really think that your system is so much more superior to ours... Do some research.

Yahoo answers is probably one of the worst places to ask questions. You have to filter through all the idiots to find a real answer and then you still don't know if they have any clue what they're talking about.

get 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th professional opinion, since you're in canada, medical care is more affordable than the states so take advantage of it. Then google everything, so at the end that equals too 30 years, live until you're 30 to the fullest. Just make sure you don't accumulate bad karma, might bite you in the ass hard in your next life depending on your religion.

First-line doctors are not supposed to know everything about every condition - only House is able to do that! What they are supposed to do, beyond the simple-everyday ailments and spotting emergencies, is to refer you to someone with specialist knowledge. Medicine is far too broad for anyone to know everything. You need to find out from your doctor what field he considers your conditions to be in and who the best local specialists are. See one or more of them. If it's too obscure for them then get a referral to someone even more specialised. Keep getting referred until you reach one or more people you trust to handle your problem.

the doctor didn't know what the illness was... fine... but i'm pretty sure the doctor should not tell someone they are going to die at a fairly young age before even knowing what the **** is wrong with him. that doctor is a dumbass

I agree - that was clearly idiotic.
