To be fair, doctors working in general practice shouldn't be expected to know every little detail about every single disorder that exists, especially with rare cases where very few people are diagnosed yearly. Leave that stuff to the specialists.

I would go to another doctor or two and get their opinions then look up what they say for any further questions you may have.
