Today, I was trying out for a position as pitcher for my college baseball team. I threw the ball as hard as I could, and then collapsed to the ground in agony from a dislocated shoulder. FML

Although never very good at sports, this was always a very real fear of mine when I played baseball as a kid because I remember watching an older kid do that.

Never throw as hard as you can right away. Progress from lightly from a short distance to longer distances until you're completely stretched. Throwing a baseball is one of the most stressful things a person can put on their arm, so you have to make sure you're good and ready. Good luck in the future

1: Ouch 2: Mildly embarrassing 3: Hope you're ok :)

I guess you don't know your own strength. Sorry to hear that OP. Better luck next time

Ouch. OP pitchers don't need to overpower the opponent. Pitch placement is the key.

What? When you dislocate your shoulder, it doesn't hurt, the bad part is putting it back in its socket.

Sorry OP. Pitch velocity isnt everything. Placement is the most important aspect! If you dont have control, then you have nothing.

It's all about placement, not speed. I hope you recover quickly.
