Today, I was turned down for a job as a cashier at Best Buy. I worked like hell to get into and then graduate from one of the top Telecommunication schools in the country. I spent all my time with extracurriculars to help my resume instead of partying like my friends. I can't even be a cashier. FML

You sound like a driven individual that will give a sustained effort to excel. You are clearly not Best Buy material. Take your rejection as a compliment.

You're probably just overqualified. Don't worry, eventually you'll be hired to be what you studied so hard to be. :)

Dude i feel your pain, but i envy you too. you at least got interviewed at best buy. I never even got that far because my application was always rejected for failing that bs personality test. And thus, my application was never seen by best buy.

Why didn't you see this coming if you're so smart. P.S. Did you know you're overqualified lol

That sucks but it is life. A lot of college students, even graduate ones, don't get jobs right after graduation. Just keep trying. I see you're from NJ. Try applying in NYC or Philly, if you live close enough.

You know they look at a lot more than just your degree...maybe you just have a really crappy personality. just saying

Lets do some meager jobs and play world of warcraft all day

You're most likely overqualified. in order to hire you, they'd have to pay you most likely three times the amount they want to pay. My grandfather had the same issues. He couldn't become a normal teacher like he wanted because he has a Master's Degree, and would have been paid money that they did not have. Try applying for a computer business, like a simply run computer store, or a pawn shop. The computer stores in my area, just for removing a virus (takes my father about 5 minutes to do that) costs around $100, so if you can do that, and get a job there, you'd probably do well.
