Today, I was walking down the street when I had a coughing fit. The next thing I know I'm being pushed about by a group of guys who were smoking, because they thought I was coughing deliberately to send them a message about smoking being bad. FML

My friend always cough when she passes people who smoke to send them a message. I agree with that smoking is bad but she does it way to obvious and to some scary people.

I do that. But only when they're standing right by the entrance/exit and I'm trying to walk past with the baby.

Why not politely ask them to move? Yes, they started being inconsiderate by standing near the door, but two wrongs don't make a right. Maybe if someone is polite about asking them to move, they will remember that the next time they light up in public and stand away from a path. Even if you only get through to one it makes the world a but better by making changes through niceness.

there is actually laws about smoking within a certain distance of any public entance to a building depending on your location. in Pheonix, AZ i think it was 100 ft unless it was a designated smoking area, and 500 ft of any school grounds unless your on your own property.
